A section of cliff has collapsed near the vicinity of the Shiomghvime Monastery complex. Video footage of the incident has been circulating on social media platforms, Georgian Public Broadcaster reports.
Reports from individuals present at the scene indicate that no injuries occurred due to the collapse.
The First Channel of the Georgian Public Broadcaster has contacted local government representatives and the Emergency Management Service for more information.
The Georgian Patriarchate Public Relations Office has released information regarding the incident near Shiomghvime Monastery.
According to the Patriarchate, based on information provided by the Shiomghvime Monastery, there were no injuries resulting from the incident, and the monastery itself did not sustain any damage.
The statement explained that periodic rockslides from the surrounding cliff have been observed in the vicinity of the monastery. This year, a relatively larger-scale incident occurred.
Currently, relevant state agencies are on-site and involved in addressing the situation.
