Russian Air Defense Forces destroyed a Ukrainian assault drone targeting facilities in the Russian capital and the Moscow Region, the Russian Defense Ministry reported to journalists on Saturday adding that the UAV was downed over the Istra district, TASS reports.
"On August 26 at about 03:00 a.m. Moscow time, the Kiev regime’s attempted terrorist attack on facilities in Moscow and the Moscow region with the use of an airplane-type UAV was foiled. On-duty Air Defense Forces destroyed the drone over the Istra district in the Moscow Region," the ministry stated.
Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said earlier in the day that the Russian Air Defense Forces downed an attack drone flying in the direction of the Russian capital.
"Air Defense Forces destroyed a drone in the early hours of Saturday in the Istra district as it approaching Moscow. No casualties or damage were reported, according to preliminary reports," Sobyanin wrote on his Telegram channel.
A series of explosions were heard in the areas of the Zaporozhye region, which are under the control of Kyiv. Information about this appeared on the Ukrainian TV channel TSN.
Several explosions were heard in the part of the region controlled by the Kyiv regime. A few minutes before that, an air alert was announced in the Zaporozhye region. Also, sirens blared in the Dnepropetrovsk, Poltava and Kharkiv regions.
Over the past day, the siren buzzed in the Zaporozhye region about 10 times, it follows from the data of the population alert portal. On the morning of August 25, the alarm sounded for almost four and a half hours. At 17:06, an air alert was announced throughout Ukraine.
On the same day, the Ukrainian media reported on explosions in Odessa. According to preliminary information, air defense systems worked in the city of Chernomorsk, where the seaport is located.
