Gabon's Ambassador to UN Michel Xavier Biang said his country is deeply concerned by situation of the civilian population in Nagorno-Karabakh during a UN SC meeting commenced by the initiative of Armenia.
"We are deeply concerned by the situation of the civilian population in Nagorno-Karabakh facing shortages of food, medicines, hygiene items and basic services. Gabon reiterates humanitarian aid must be provided without politicization. "Access to the NK region must be guaranteed to prevent further jeopardization of lives of civilian population", he added.
“My country remains convinced that crisis must be resolved through dialog while complying with intl. law. Discussions should continue to prevent conflict. "We call on the parties to honour the existing agreements and continue discussions to find agreement on key issues - signing a peace treaty and delimiting borders. Parties must not use military threats or incendiary rhetoric or hate speech", Biang said.
