A volcanic eruption on Mount Etna has forced the closure of Catania Fontanarossa Airport in Sicily.
Officials say the closure was prompted by ashes stemming from the eruption. The airport is to remain closed until 8 PM on Monday.
Thousands of travellers are facing flight cancellations, as well as rerouting to and from the airport of Palermo.
