On August 15, the NA President of the Republic of Armenia Alen Simonyan received the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Armenia, Ambassador Andrea Wiktorin, who is completing her diplomatic mission in Armenia, Parliament press office reports.
Alen Simonyan expressed his gratitude for the strengthening and deepening of relations with the European Union, the Ambassador’s huge contribution to the sustainable development of Armenia.
“Knowing you and seeing your heart-felt work for our country in establishing democratic institutions, I reaffirm our loyalty to democratic values and our willingness to spare no effort,” Alen Simonyan mentioned. He underlined the Ambassador’s direct participation in the programmes aimed at supporting the development of the southern regions of Armenia and strengthening the resistance. In response, Andrea Wiktorin assured that the EU continues to be a primary partner supporting the reform agenda implemented by the Armenian Government.
The deployment of the EU Observation Mission in Armenia, as well as the UN Security Council meeting to be held on August 16 regarding the humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh was discussed at the meeting.
At the end of the meeting, the RA NA President awarded Andrea Wiktorin with the Medal of Honor of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia for his significant contribution to the strengthening of inter-parliamentary friendly ties and the development of democracy.
