The humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh continues to deepen and expand. Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed the topic during the Government session on August 11.
He reminded that since December 2022, Azerbaijan has banned commercial supplies to Nagorno-Karabakh by illegally blocking the Lachin Corridor.
“In other words, the shops and pharmacies functioning in Nagorno-Karabakh since December 2022 have had no local or foreign supply for their sale at all," said the Prime Minister. He then reminded that since June 15 of this year, Azerbaijan has also blocked the supply of humanitarian goods, including children's food and medicine, to Nagorno-Karabakh, including thought the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC).
The Prime Minister also referred to Armenian Government's initiative to support the people of Nagorno-Karabakh during the humanitarian crisis.
“The working group made a decision to send humanitarian cargo to NK back on July 26 of this year, and 19 trucks headed to NK continue to stand in the area of Kornidzor village of Syunik province, near the Lachin corridor.
I want to remind you that the contents of those 19 trucks are as follows. Flour - 100 tons, pasta - 80 tons, sugar - 60 tons, vegetable oil - 40 tons, milk powder - 40 tons, salt - 20 tons, baby food - 12 tons, medicine - 9 tons, a total of 361 tons.
This cargo content was certified by diplomats accredited in Armenia and can be reconfirmed at any time in Kornidzor by inspection of trucks parked for 16 days.
Later, the humanitarian convoy was joined by 2 more trucks with 9 tons of sweets, namely 33 names from a company producing candies and cookies and 1 truck with 1 hitch, 25 tons of pasta from the city of Paris and the regions of Île-de-France, Auvergne , Rhône-Alpes , Hauts-de-France, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Pays de la Loire and Grand Est," he said.
The Prime Minister also emphasized: “There is no explanation for blocking the entry of humanitarian goods into Nagorno-Karabakh.”
