On August 11, Deputy Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Vahan Kostanyan had a telephone conversation with State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia Samuel Žbogar.
The Deputy Minister briefed on the details of the situation incompatible with life in Nagorno-Karabakh resulting from Azerbaijan's illegal blockade of the Lachin corridor: 30,000 children, 20,000 elderly people, 9,000 people with disabilities are deprived of necessary medical care, and the 120,000 population of Nagorno-Karabakh is actually on the verge of hunger and humanitarian disaster.
Reiterating the willingness of the Republic of Armenia to establish a stable peace in the region, Vahan Kostanyan expressed his deep concern that by failing to implement the Orders of the UN Court of Justice of February 22 and July 6 and by keeping the illegal blockade of the Lachin corridor, Azerbaijan is directly undermining all efforts of interested partners to establish stability in the South Caucasus. The Deputy Minister also touched upon the abduction of Vagif Khachatryan by the Azerbaijani border service on July 29, who was being transported from Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia for medical treatment by the ICRC. He emphasized the absolute inadmissibility of Azerbaijan's illegal behavior.
Vahan Kostanyan expressed condolences to Samuel Žbogar for the loss of lives as a result of the floods in Slovenia. During the telephone conversation, the prospects for deepening Armenian-Slovenian cooperation were discussed.
