The resort town of Shovi in the mountainous region of Racha, where a landslide occurred, no longer exists. According to TASS, the general secretary of the ruling "Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia" party, the mayor of Tbilisi, Kakha Kaladze, announced this.
On August 3, a large landslide occurred in Shovi. 18 people were killed and 16 others went missing. Bridges, roads, tourist cottages and the Sunset Shovi Hotel were damaged.
