Human Rights Defender of Armenia Anahit Manasyan received today, August 2, the head of the EU delegation, ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary Andrea Wiktorin, who is completing the diplomatic mission in Armenia.
"Dear Mrs. Wiktorin, I highly appreciate the strong cooperation formed between our institutions in the field of human rights protection. Your personal contribution and dedication to the work carried out is extremely high. I would like to thank the EU efforts and program support for the development of the institution, the protection of various areas of human rights, especially the fight against hate speech, discrimination, and the promotion of women's rights," said the Defender.
Within the framework of the meeting, Anahit Manasyan presented the humanitarian situation caused by the blocking of the Lachin Corridor, issues related to the kidnapping of a 68-year-old citizen by Azerbaijan who was being transported to Armenia for treatment under the auspices of the International Committee of the Red Cross. In this context, the Defender specially emphasized the importance of the international community's response and taking steps, also among various EU institutions and officials.
Andrea Wiktorin also thanked for the constructive work and wished for stable development.
