Nagorno-Karabakh authorities have reiterated readiness to discuss reasonable proposals on organizing meetings between their representatives and the authorities of Azerbaijan, the Nagorno-Karabakh foreign ministry told Armenpress News Agency.
Armenpress asked the Nagorno-Karabakh foreign ministry to comment on the media reports regarding a possible meeting between representatives of Stepanakert and Baku.
In written comments to Armenpress, the Nagorno-Karabakh foreign ministry said that by noting the importance of public interest both in Nagorno-Karabakh and in Armenia regarding the possible launch of direct dialogue with Baku, nonetheless it won’t comment on individual meetings that didn’t take place not because of Nagorno-Karabakh as doing so would be inappropriate.
“We’d like to underscore that the authorities of Artsakh Republic are always ready to discuss reasonable proposals on organizing meetings between representatives of Artsakh and Azerbaijan. Furthermore, for its part Artsakh is regularly making initiatives and proposals on organizing meetings between representatives of Artsakh and Azerbaijan with participation of mediators,” the foreign ministry of Artsakh added.
At the same time, the ministry added that the success of the dialogue would depend on real interest and duly approach of both sides in resolving disputes.
“Such interest exists from our side. If the Azerbaijani side were to also display such readiness, it would allow the pave the way for launching dialogue. In this context, we once again underscore that dialogue between Artsakh and Azerbaijan must take place in a coordinated international format with relevant mandate,” the Artsakh foreign ministry said, adding that such an approach would allow the international community to be more actively involved in the negotiations process, strengthen its legitimacy and stability, as well as ensure reliable guarantees for implementation of possible agreements between the sides.
