During the meeting with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan in Ankara, Jeyhun Bayramov discussed issues of regional and bilateral interest. After the meeting, at a joint press conference, the Turkish Foreign Minister for the first time commented on the latest developments around the Lachin Corridor, and noted that the accusations against Baku are unfair.
"Medical transit is provided, humanitarian aid is provided, Lachin road is Azerbaijani territory, and Azerbaijan can take any action there," said Fidan.
He stated that a strong Turkey means a strong Azerbaijan, and a strong Azerbaijan means a strong Turkey. According to Fidan, Ankara fully supports the Armenian-Azerbaijani settlement process, the signing of the peace treaty, and called on the international community not to interfere in the negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. The chief diplomat of Turkey added that the settlement process is important for the development and stability of the region. In that regard, he highlighted the opening of the so-called "Zangezur Corridor".
Bayramov once again blamed the Armenian side for allegedly disrupting the peace process. He added that, despite this, Baku is ready to close the page of hostility and sign a peace treaty with Armenia.
The minister assured that Azerbaijan supports the process of normalization of Armenia-Turkey relations.
