Arin Karapet, Member of Sweden’s Parliament of Armenian descend, visited Kornidzor border area near Lachin Corridor and presented his views on the situation.
“Visited Lachin Corridor today and the situation is serious where 400 tons of humanitarian food, medicines and other supplies have been standing still for four days due to Azerbaijan's illegal blockade. The 120,000 residents of Nagorno-Karabakh waiting for this aid are at risk of starvation and deteriorating health.
On site, Red Cross cars passed on their way to Nagorno-Karabakh to transport seriously ill people to Armenia for treatment.
When we left the scene, we received the news that a seriously ill 68-year-old man had been detained by Azerbaijani authorities, preventing the Red Cross from fulfilling its mission to help him.
The situation is acute and international efforts are urgently needed to restore free passage for both aid and civilians. We must act immediately to make sure lifesaving humanitarian aid reaches the vulnerable residents of Nagorno-Karabakh and that they receive the care and support they so desperately need to survive and rebuild their lives”, he posted on his Facebook page.
