The Turkish President called for increased cooperation between Iran and Turkey in the fight against terrorism and Islamophobia during the ceremony where the new Iranian Ambassador to Ankara presented his letter of credence, Turkey's Government reports.
Iran's new Ambassador to Ankara, Mohammad Hassan Habibollahzadeh, presented his credentials to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Thursday evening, July 27.
Pointing to the arrival of the month of Muharram and Ashura, the Turkish President described Ashura as a symbol of the equality of Muslims and an occasion for the unity of the Muslim community.
Erdoğan emphasized the importance of developing economic and commercial cooperation between Iran and Türkiye, referring to various areas of cooperation between the two countries.
Erdoğan said he expects trade between the two countries to reach $30 billion soon, and he urged officials from both countries to work together to remove trade barriers and reach this figure.
The Turkish President also called for increased bilateral cooperation in the fight against terrorism and Islamophobia, as well as the unity of the Muslim world.
During the meeting, Erdoğan conveyed his greetings to Iran's supreme leader and President, mentioned his invitation for President Raisi to visit Turkey, and expressed his satisfaction with the upcoming visit of the Turkish Foreign Minister to Tehran.
