French Foreign Ministry issued a statement on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and Lachin Corridor. The statement reads:
“France deplores Azerbaijan's persistent blocking of the Lachin corridor, which contradicts the commitments made under the ceasefire agreements and is detrimental to the negotiation process. It gives its full support to the declaration of the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of 26 July concerning the humanitarian situation affecting the population of Nagorno-Karabakh.
France calls on Azerbaijan to comply with its international obligations, in particular to implement the interim measures indicated by the International Court of Justice in its order of February 22, which are binding.
It calls for the restoration of the free movement of goods, people and goods, along the Lachin corridor, in both directions, and a continuous supply of gas and electricity to the population.
Alongside the European Union, France remains fully committed to promoting a lasting and just peace in the region, a message expressed by the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs during her visit to Armenia and Azerbaijan at the end of April”.
