Nineteen trucks with essential goods have been in the border area of Kornidzor for more than 20 hours. There is still no movement in transferring humanitarian aid to Nagorno-Karabakh. Vardan Sargsyan, the representative of the humanitarian crisis management working group in Nagorno-Karabakh, stated during the briefing that there is already an international response from Lithuania, the EU, France, and Denmark.
“Despite the claims that the Lachin Corridor is open, there are no obstacles to the movement of cargo and people in need of medical assistance, the fact remains that the trucks are standing still and the cargo cannot reach the people of Nagorno-Karabakh who are in a humanitarian crisis,” he said.
According to Sargsyan, there is no question of the trucks returning, they are where they were deployed, in the Kornidzor sector, there is no new development, they are waiting for an answer in order to organize the cargo transportation process.
“Our primary goal was and remains to deliver humanitarian aid to the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, all the efforts of the Armenian side are aimed at this goal,” he said.
Sargsyan informed that tomorrow the visit of representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Armenia and international structures to the humanitarian convoy sector, Kornidzor, is planned.
When asked how long the trucks will stay at the border area of Kornidzor, Sargsyan answered.
“I can't talk about exact dates, because from the beginning we were involved in this process in order to deliver the humanitarian cargo to Nagorno-Karabakh, not to determine dates.”
