Russian President Vladimir Putin held a trilateral meeting with Chairman of the African Union, President of the Union of the Comoros Azali Assoumani and Chairman of the African Union Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat.
"We regard the African Union as the main regional organization that forms the modern security structure on the continent. And it creates the conditions for ensuring a worthy place for Africa in the system of global economic relations,” President Putin said.
This is the first event of the Russian president on the opening day of the two-day Russia-Africa Summit that takes place in parallel with economic and humanitarian forums. After these talks, Putin will speak at the plenary meeting, and then continue bilateral and multilateral contacts.
