At the moment we have no changes in terms of news yet, Edmon Marukyan, ambassador-at large, told journalists about the ban of the Azerbaijani side on delivering humanitarian goods to the population of Nagorno-Karabakh.
"The humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh is getting worse. 30 thousand children continue to be malnourished. About 120,000 people are in need of basic primary food and primary supplies, many patients are in need of medicine, about which our specialists of the Ministry of Healthcare and Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs provide detailed information. All kinds of international humanitarian and human rights organizations around the world are aware.
You also saw yesterday the statement of the High Representative for Foreign Affairs of the European Union. We have one goal: to transfer the humanitarian cargo to the Russian peacekeeping force so that it reaches Nagorno-Karabakh, there is no other purpose, and from the beginning we informed everyone that it is not even about these trucks going to Nagorno-Karabakh, that is, so that they cannot in any way say that this is a provocation.
Although they say again, in that sense, we have not left any facts, any approach to be used either against this initiative or in any other way. In fact, the statements that are made are nervous breakdowns, because it is increasingly being proven on all platforms, at all levels, that Azerbaijan has besieged and starved around 120 thousand people in the 21st century. This is a violation of international humanitarian law, a massive violation of human rights. in this sense, there is no step that I can say that we did not take, that we do not prove, and that is obvious", Edmon Marukyan said.
He reminded that yesterday all the ambassadors, diplomats, representatives of international institutions accredited to the MFA studied the cargo, saw it, were aware of it, and presented it all to their capitals.
"At the diplomatic level, full work is being done, and at the humanitarian level - the same. In this sense, our steps are very predictable and are in line with our commitments, the trilateral agreement of November (2020), according to which the Lachin Corridor should be operational, and it is the only connection with Armenia, and it is not only the connection to provide food, deliver primary goods, but also In terms of special connection with RA, it is recorded, which the President of Azerbaijan, the President of Russia and the Prime Minister of Armenia signed. In this sense, I want to simply say that all steps are being taken, but the humanitarian crisis is deepening day by day. We have to continue our actions, and I hope that we will manage to transfer the cargo to the Russian peacekeeping troops", Edmon Marukyan said.
