Among the humanitarian cargo weighing 400 tons, which is currently being sent to the border area of Kornidzor, there are about 200 types of medicines and other medical supplies, Armenia's Deputy Minister of Health Armen Nazaryan said during an interview with "Lurer" (News) reporter.
"They are mainly necessary drugs: blood pressure regulating drugs, anti-shock drugs, psychotropic drugs, anesthetics, we also have anti-tumor drugs.
Considering that the supply of medicine to Nagorno-Karabakh has been interrupted for a long time, we have a number of chronic patients. We are trying to provide priority medicines for those chronic patients with this humanitarian support", Nazaryan said.
According to him, this, however, will not solve the humanitarian health crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh at the moment.
"We have dozens of patients in hospitals who need to be transferred to narrow specialized clinics in Yerevan. We have a problem with ambulance work, because the ambulances have stopped working due to lack of fuel. In short, we have a total healthcare crisis, which we must try to resolve at any cost, and the supply of this medicine will somewhat relieve the health burden in NK", he said.
As for those with health problems in Nagorno-Karabakh, Armen Nazaryan said that among them there are young children, elderly people, and chronic patients who should have received their regular medical care in narrow specialized clinics; it refers to tumor diseases.
"During the last two days, with the support of the Red Cross, we have transported around 3 dozen patients, but this did not ease the problem at all. I must say that the transfer of these patients was very delayed. And their regular medical care, for which they were transferred, was already delayed, which already leads to the ineffectiveness of the treatment", he said.
There is also a problem with the transfer of citizens who received treatment in Armenia and are already subject to return to Nagorno-Karabakh. Adequate treatment of the remaining patients continues.
"We are sure that everyone is in good hands and everyone is receiving effective treatment", he said, adding that ICRC should be active in the case of those with chronic diseases. "We are sure that the Red Cross should be more active in transporting them to Yerevan clinics".
