The development of multi-level relations with France has always been highlighted in Armenia’s foreign policy agenda. The special Armenian-French relations are based on the traditional friendship of the two peoples, the active role of the Armenian community in France, close bilateral political, cultural and humanitarian ties. The Head of the RA NA Armenia-France Friendship Group Vladimir Vardanyan mentioned in his speech welcoming the delegation led by the Mayor of Bourg-lès-Valence, France Marlène Mourier at the meeting held at the RA National Assembly on July 24.
The meeting was attended by the members of Armenia-France Friendship Group Arusyak Manavazyan, Babken Tunyan, the member of the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs David Arushanyan, the Deputy Mayor of Bourg-lès-Valence Robert Tafankechyan and the Head of Talin community Tavros Sapeyan.
On July 22, the delegation from Bourg-lès-Valence took part in the celebrations dedicated to the sister city Talin Day. In his speech, Tavros Sapeyan noted that next year marks the 20th anniversary of the cooperation of the sister cities, in connection with which it was proposed to establish a park dedicated to Talin in Bourg-lès-Valence, where the bust of the famous French-Armenian singer, chansonnier Charles Aznavour will be placed.
The Mayor Marlène Mourier thanked for the warm reception and expressed readiness to develop cooperation between the two cities.
The participants of the meeting emphasized the partnership and friendly relations formed between the two cities, which are characterized by exceptional warmth.
The Head of the Friendship Group presented the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh due to the blocking of the Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan.
Issues regarding opportunities for cooperation in areas of mutual interest were discussed.
