A building at the Chinese consulate in Odesa was damaged in a Russian missile and drone attack on the southern Ukrainian port city, regional governor Oleh Kiper said on Thursday, Reuters reports.
The damage appeared to be minor. Kiper posted a photograph online showing the building with broken windows.
Russian Defence Ministry said it already provided explanations to the Chinese Embassy in Moscow.
“The blast wave shook off parts of the wall surface and windowpanes. The consulate staff had long left the premises and no one was hurt. China is closely following the developments and staying in touch with the parties concerned. We will take all measures necessary to keep Chinese institutions and nationals safe in Ukraine”, China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson said earlier in a statement.
