The authorities of Armenia understand the civilian steps aimed at making the consequences of the deepening humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh, as a result of the illegal blocking of the Lachin corridor, and the policy of ethnic cleansing conducted by Azerbaijan more visible to the international community. Nazeli Baghdasaryan, the press secretary of the Prime Minister of Armenia, told this to Armenpress, and referring to the movement that started in Nagorno-Karabakh capital Stepanakert early Friday morning, and with the demand to stop the illegal blockade of the Lachin corridor by Azerbaijan.
"The government of Armenia itself is making efforts in this direction. The international community should take effective measures to implement the legally binding decisions of the International Court of Justice of February 22 and July 6 on the unblocking of the Lachin corridor," Baghdasaryan added.
"In this respect, the government of Armenia emphasizes also that a Baku-Stepanakert dialogue, with the agenda of the rights and security of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh within the framework of the international mechanism, is a necessity," stressed the press secretary of the PM of Armenia.
The Nationwide Movement started in NK Friday morning in the capital Stepanakert's Renaissance Square.
From Renaissance Square, the participants in the aforesaid rally first marched to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Stepanakert office, where they demanded the ICRC to present the whole reality regarding the situation in NK to all international organizations.
Then, they marched to Ivanyan village, where the headquarters of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in NK is located, and presented their demands to the Russian peacekeepers and met with their commander.
The objective of the Nationwide Movement is to achieve the unblocking of the Lachin corridor, the lifeline of NK, which Azerbaijan has blocked.
