In recent months, intensive work has been done to normalize relations with Armenia, the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan announced. Jeyhun Bayramov reminded that there were regular contacts at the level of leaders and foreign ministers of the two countries. He added that the parties are conducting negotiations to open communications.
Bayramov also referred to the recent calls of Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, to reopen the Lachin corridor.
"Of course, we should listen to these calls and analyze them. We do it, we give an adequate response. Azerbaijan has its own point of view regarding the implementation of norms and principles of international law. We conduct our policy, guided not by someone's calls, but by our national interest," Bayramov added.
He also spoke about Baku-Tehran relations, stated that Iran is Azerbaijan's neighbor, and Baku is interested in positive relations with Tehran.
Bayramov also added that Baku wants the perpetrators of the January 29 attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Iran to be punished. "Relations with Iran are very important in terms of regional development and security," the diplomat emphasized.
