Armenia celebrates the Constitution Day today. The Constitution of Armenia is already 28 years old. Constitution Day is a public holiday for Armenia and its citizens.
The Constitution of the Republic of Armenia was adopted by a national referendum on July 5, 1995 when the citizens of the republic voted for the adoption of the Constitution of independent Armenia, thus expressing the wish to live in a free and democratic state.
It was the first Constitution of independent Armenia, which enshrined the foundations of a free, independent and democratic Armenia. In 2005, again with a referendum, the Constitution was amended and supplemented, the powers of the parliament were expanded.
And with the 2015 constitutional amendment referendum, our country transitioned to a parliamentary government system.
