American businessman and billionaire Elon Musk was shocked by the huge amount of weapons possessed by protesters in France.
“Where do they get all the guns? Personal gun ownership in Europe is extremely limited, but still exists. So most of these guns are most likely stolen or illegally imported into French territory,” he wrote on Twitter.
Mass riots broke out across the country Tuesday morning after police shot dead a 17-year-old boy in the Paris suburb of Nanterre for refusing to comply with law enforcement requirements.
There has been several days of unrest now, with protesters setting fire to administrative buildings and looting shops. In some areas, special forces and helicopters come into play. According to the statement of the French Ministry of the Interior, the protesters broke into an ammunition store in Marseille and took out all the weapons.
French President Emmanuel Macron convened an inter-ministerial crisis group.
