Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Paruyr Hovhannisyan on Friday received Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Wojciech Gerwel, who is in Armenia to participate in the seventh session of the Armenian-Polish intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation.
During the meeting, the Armenian-Polish bilateral agenda was discussed, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia reports. Possibilities of expanding cooperation in various domains were discussed, particularly the practical steps aimed at promoting trade and economic relations between the two countries.
At the meeting, views were exchanged also on matters related to Armenia-EU partnership. The importance of the development of Armenian-Polish collaboration within international organizations was emphasized.
In addition, Hovhannisyan briefed his Polish interlocutor on the security situation in Armenia’s region and the efforts made by the country towards establishing peace. Reference was made to the process of normalizing Armenia-Azerbaijan relations, and addressing the rights and security issues of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh.
The need to lift the illegal blockade of the Lachin corridor, as well as to exclude aggressive rhetoric and the threat of using force by Azerbaijan, was emphasized.
