It was estimated that in case of the resumption of a large-scale war, it will not be easy, but the Defense Ministry and the Armenian Armed Forces are able to fulfill the task set before them, including as a result of the achievements that have been made. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said, addressing the question of whether there were evaluations of the combat capability of the Armed Forces, possibilities and potential during a possible war, in the investigation commission investigating the circumstances of the 44-day war.
The Prime Minister emphasized that air defense equipment has been acquired and reminded the discussed fact about Su fighter jets.
"As a political authority, I have put a simple request before the army, "Tell what you need and you will have it". They said: "Su-30 is needed". Can you imagine a modern fighter jet?" he said, reminding that Andranik Kocharyan, the chairman of the Standing Committee on Defense and Security Affairs, sent him a letter regarding the advisability of acquiring those airplanes, which he addressed to the Ministry of Defense.
"I said: there is such a viewpoint, discuss and tell. I received a reply that we discussed it and our conclusion is that we need it. I said if you need, you will have it. What else do you need? Air defense means are needed. What is needed for that? So much money. You will have. What else do you need? In other words, in 2020 I was guided by the same principle until the end of the war. If you need a title, you will have it, if you need a medal, you will have it, if you need money, you will have it, if you need food, you will have it. They criticize, they say: he rewarded, he did this, he did that. Within the framework of the same principle, I said that whatever the army says, I will not say "no", the army will not hear the word "no" from me. What you need, you will have, and what they wanted from me, they had. Of course, with objective limitations", the Prime Minister noted.
He said that he made his decision based on the opinion given by the institute. "Because today the same question may be asked that we told the Prime Minister: Su-30 is needed, the Prime Minister did not listen to the executive authorities, he listened to Andranik Kocharyan", said Nikol Pashinyan.
