It is problematic that they do not say that they recognize the territorial integrity of Armenia. This proves that Azerbaijan does not at least show sincerity and constructiveness. During the press conference of the RA NA delegation in PACE, the special representative of Armenia, in the process of normalization of Armenia-Turkey relations, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Ruben Rubinyan said.
“Of course, if the borders are mutually recognized, it means that the armed forces of Azerbaijan must withdraw from the occupied parts of the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia. And they should not necessarily withdraw after the recognition. In any case, they should leave because these are the internationally recognized sovereign territories of Armenia,” he said.
Referring to the peace treaty, Rubinyan said that it does not depend on the completion of the delimitation process. “Theoretically, the delimitation can last a week, it can last 50 years. Of course, we would like the delimitation to last as short as possible. We also believe that after the signing of a peace treaty or in the context of signing, if one of the main points of that treaty is territorial integrity, there should be a mechanism according to which the positioning of the armed forces is in accordance with the recognized border.
The logic is as follows: “Armenia and Azerbaijan recognize each other's territorial integrity, and therefore the armed forces should be across the border,” the NA Deputy Speaker of the Parliament noted.
