Blocking the Lachin Corridor is endangering the lives of thousands of people, forcing them to live in dire need of food, medicine and fuel, a threat of ethnic cleansing. Cypriot MP Yiorgos Loukaides reminded about this during the discussion on ‘Ensuring free and safe movement through the Lachin Corridor’ at the PACE summer session.
“Azerbaijan's leadership should accept the humanitarian consequences of the blocking of the Lachin Corridor and the serious violations of human rights,” said the MP, calling for full compliance with the provision of the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020 and the implementation the decisions of the International Court of Justice and the ECHR.
According to Loukaides, confidence-building measures are needed, as well as clear initiatives, including within the framework of the Council of Europe.
