On June 21, hearings on the protection of the people of Artsah (Nagorno-Karabakh) were held in the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission of the US Congress.
Republican Ambassador Sam Brownback, referring to the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, raised the alarm: the Christian population is threatened with expulsion from the region.
"Azerbaijan is going to squeeze the territory, just forcing the population to leave and not return, they will disperse all over the world and create other centers of diaspora. Are we going to allow another Christian population to be driven from their homeland? All this is carried out with American or Israeli weapons, which the Azerbaijanis have. I think that if Azerbaijan does not lift the blockade, President Biden's administration should implement Section 907".
The congressman suggested sending a delegation to Artsakh to assess the situation on the ground. Brownback raised the issue of religious freedom of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh and noted that the American religious society should support the provision of religious freedom of the population of Nagorno-Karabakh.
