The verdict on Azerbaijani serviceman Huseyin Akhundov was announced in Kapan city court of Armenia. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison, the Prosecutor's Office of Armenia reports.
Akhundov was found guilty of killing Hayrapet Meliksetyan, 56, a security guard of the Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine.
In early April, Huseyin Akhundov and another Azerbaijani soldier, Agshin Babirov, illegally entered Syunik Province of Armenia from Nakhichevan, and they were caught by the residents of Syunik's border villages. The court sentenced Babirov to 11 years in prison for illegally crossing the border into Armenia, as well as illegally transporting firearms and ammunition across the state border. And Akhundov was accused of murder, too.
