There were clashes between the residents of Söyüdlü village of Azerbaijan and the police. According to local media, the villagers are protesting against the construction of another artificial lake in the settlement, which is designed to remove chemical waste from the Getabek (Gadabay) gold mine.
The law enforcement officers used tear gas against the protesters, and beat them with batons, mostly elderly people. More than 10 injured and arrested are reported.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the country issued a message after the incident, according to which an official investigation has been launched into the actions of the police.
