Political consultations were held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Georgia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, Georgian Foreign Ministry reports.
The meeting was chaired by the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lasha Darsalia, from the Georgian side, and by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Khalaf Khalafov, from the Azerbaijani side.
At the meeting held within the framework of Georgia-Azerbaijan political consultations, the sides discussed the existing close cooperation between the two countries, which is successfully developing both in bilateral and multilateral formats, the press handout form the Georgian ministry said. The delegations of the two countries expressed their willingness to further deepen bilateral cooperation in economy, trade, culture and other fields.
Discussions focused on the situation in the region, existing challenges and peaceful ways to solve them.
The sides noted the importance of peace and stability and Georgia’s and Azerbaijan’s special contribution to the stable development of the region.
At the meeting, the sides also touched on the delimitation-demarcation of Georgia’s state border with Azerbaijan, in particular, they talked about the possibility of holding another session of the state commissions.
