On June 19, the President of the RA National Assembly Alen Simonyan met with the students of the Memory Train Cultural-Educational Project and wished them a nice trip.
The Project started on the previous year on the initiative of the parliaments of Russia and Belarus, this year the parliaments of Armenia and the EEU other member countries. Cognitive visit is organized for the students of the high school by the Project to the territories of Russia and Belarus, where the hot battles of the Great Patriotic War took place.
Being informed about the details from the Speaker of the RF FA Federal Council Valentina Matvienko, the RA NA President Alen Simonyan confirmed the participation of Armenia last year.
As a result of competition jointly carried out with the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport and the Moscow House, 20 students were chosen, who will leave for Moscow tomorrow, then by train they will travel to 15 cities of Russia and Belarus to take part in different events dedicated to the victory against the Nazism in the Great Patriotic War.
The RA NA President Alen Simonyan congratulated the teenagers, advising them to present our country to the foreign peers and to speak about the participation of the Armenian people in the Patriotic War, their heroic stories and great contribution there. “Remember that you are Armenians, citizens of independent Armenia, and with those very feelings become friends with the students of your age,” the RA NA President noted, wishing them a good trip.
The RA NA deputy Aleksey Sandikov will accompany the students during the trip. According to him, the Project is highlighted in terms of familiarizing the new generation with the heroic past of our ancestors, and the teenagers will have an opportunity to see on the spot and have a picture about the victory made by our heroic grandfathers.
Speaking about their participation in the Project, the students noted that they will travel by train with great interest to the cities that suffered because of the World War II, and they have a lot to tell about our country and our customs.
In 2025, within the framework of the Project, Memory Train is designed to organize dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War with the participation of the schoolchildren of the all CIS member states.
