Rafael Grossi, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), arrived at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant on Thursday.
A day before, Grossi visited Kyiv, where, when being asked about the condition of the NPP after the catastrophe with the Kakhovka Hydro Power Station (HPP), he stated most of the reactors are now on the cold shutdown mode.
"I’m impressed by the damage, what we caught here, I was not expecting this kind of direct hit", Grossi told journalists.
The destruction of a large section of a dam in the Russian-occupied southern Ukrainian region of Kherson led to a massive surge of water on Tuesday, 6 June, with Kyiv and Moscow blaming each other for the breach of the Nova Kakhovka dam. The flooding prompted the evacuation of nearby areas, according to media reports.
Located in Enerhodar, the Zaporizhzhia nuclear facility, is currently under control of Russian troops.
