We are with Armenia in reaching a just peace with Azerbaijan, the French Foreign Minister stated during a question-and-answer session in the Parliament.
According to Catherine Colonna, no other country supports Armenia and Azerbaijan in this matter as much as France, which is evidenced by the efforts of President Macron.
“We also support Armenia on the ground in reducing tension. In April, I personally went to the South Caucasus to help the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan to reach a peace treaty,” said the French Foreign Minister.
Catherine Colonna also referred to the EU monitoring mission in Armenia, stressing that France greatly supported the creation of the mission, and today it contributes to de-escalation of the situation.
During the question-and-answer session, Isabel Santiago, one of the deputies of the French National Assembly, called on the UN Security Council to immediately adopt a resolution to protect the people of Nagorno-Karabakh. “France has historical and fraternal ties with Armenia, it is our duty to act,” said the French deputy.
