According to Mark Libby, candidate for US Ambassador to Azerbaijan, solving the issue of territorial integrity, sovereignty, and the rights and security of the people of the region, including Nagorno-Karabakh, is of vital importance for a stable and dignified peace.
The diplomat announced this in the Foreign Relations Committee of the US Senate, where hearings on his candidacy for the position of US Ambassador to Azerbaijan were held Tuesday.
Answering the question of Bob Menendez, Chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Libby assured: “If my candidacy for this position is confirmed, I will support the United States' efforts to help Azerbaijan and Armenia reach a just and lasting peace agreement.”
“There is no military solution to this conflict. The United States must continue to condemn violence and threats of violence. But with the help of the United States and our partners in Europe, the sides are closer than ever to reaching an agreement. If I am approved, I undertake to assist them (the sides- ed.) in accomplishing this by working actively and decisively in Baku," assured the candidate for the new US ambassador to Azerbaijan.
