The President of Turkey answered journalists' questions on the plane while returning from Baku. He noted that he also discussed the process of normalization of relations with Armenia with his Azerbaijani counterpart. "Progress in the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process will significantly contribute to the normalization of our relations with Armenia. We see that after so much suffering, the door to peace is opening in our region. We expect all parties to act responsibly so that this opportunity is not lost," he said.
Referring to Armenia's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's visit to Ankara, Erdogan emphasized: "His acceptance of our invitation was an important step." According to him, he had only a short conversation with Armenia's Prime Minister during the ceremony and thanked him for accepting the invitation.
In the conversation with journalists, the President of Turkey also referred to the so-called 'Zangezur Corridor', noting that the issue in this matter is not with Armenia.
"The problem related to the 'Zangezur Corridor' is with Iran. Such a position of Iran upsets both Azerbaijan and us. I hope that we will overcome this difficulty as soon as possible. If they approached it positively, today Turkey, Azerbaijan, Iran would be united both by land and by rail, and maybe the Beijing-London line would be open as well."
