Reuters/CGTN. Russia's armed forces thwarted offensive attempts by the Ukrainian forces in several directions and destroyed military targets of Ukraine's reserve forces, while the Ukrainian forces launched airstrikes towards Russian troops and armory and shot down Russian helicopters and drones, according to official briefings of the two countries on Monday.
The Russian forces used sea-based precision weapons to assault Ukraine's reserve forces and all the assigned targets were destroyed, Russia's Defense Ministry said in a statement.
Russia's armed forces also repelled offensive attempts by the Ukrainian forces in Zaporozhye, Donetsk, Kupyansk, Krasny Liman (Lyman in Ukraine), and Kherson, according to the statement.
The statement also said that Russian forces assaulted Ukraine's military targets such as radar, ammunition depots, and a command post, and intercepted a Ukrainian Tochka-U tactical missile and drones.
On the same day, the Ukrainian forces engaged in fierce fights with the Russian troops in directions of Krasny Liman, Bakhmut, Avdeyevka, and Marinka, and launched multiple airstrikes against the Russian fronts, according to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The Ukrainian rocket and artillery forces attacked Russian military targets such as command post and air defense system, and also shot down Russian helicopters and drones, it said.
As the conflict between Russia and Ukraine drags on, U.S. Raytheon Technologies plans to deliver five more Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine by the end of 2024, its chief executive Greg Hayes said.
Ukraine has two full Patriot systems. The Russian Defense Ministry said in mid-May that Russian troops destroyed a Patriot air defense system with a high-precious missile. Two weeks later, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu announced a successful hit on another Patriot system.
