On June 9, Ambassador Tigran Balayan hosted the members of the working group on foreign relations of the "D66" coalition party at the Embassy.
Welcoming the guests, the ambassador emphasised the importance of holding such meetings in terms of exchanging ideas with political parties and deepening bilateral cooperation.
The ambassador presented to the participants of the meeting the history and current agenda of Armenia- the Netherlands bilateral relations and the intensive cooperation with the European Union, emphasising the crucial role of the EU monitoring mission to Armenia (EUMA) in stabilising the situation in the region.
The ambassador then referred to the complex security situation and existing challenges in the region, Azerbaijan's destructive approach, and the humanitarian crisis in Artsakh caused by the illegal blockade of the Lachin Corridor, in violation of the orders of the International Court of Justice. He emphasised the immediate deployment of the UN mission to Artsakh and Lachin Corridor as the only way to prevent the ethnic cleansing of Armenians living in Artsakh.
The participants of the meeting posed a number of questions related to Armenia's foreign policy to the Ambassador, to which he replied reaffirming Armenia's commitment to the establishment of peace, and emphasised in this context the imperative of the implementation by Azerbaijan of the agreements reached through the efforts of international partners.
