Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic received US National Guard Bureau Chief Gen Daniel R Hokanson on Wednesday, noting that, while maintaining its military neutrality, Serbia was ready to advance its partnership cooperation with the US military with a view to maintaining peace and stability in the region and beyond.
Speaking about the latest developments in Kosovo-Metohija, Vucic informed Hokanson in detail about the causes of an escalation of violence and thanked the US side for its engagement and clear messages aimed at calming tensions caused by unilateral acts by the Pristina authorities, the presidential press office said in a statement.
Thanking Vucic for his leadership in a difficult situation, Hokanson said peace and stability in the region would be jeopardised without it.
He also noted the Serbian Armed Forces' great contribution to peacekeeping missions worldwide.
The parties also discussed various concrete forms of Serbia-US defence cooperation, the statement added.
