On June 2, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Paruyr Hovhannisyan received the delegation of members of the European Council’s Working Party on Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
During the meeting, at the request of the delegation members, Paruyr Hovhannisyan touched upon the security situation in the South Caucasus, the importance of the deployment of the EU Monitoring Mission, Azerbaijan's illegal blockade of the Lachin corridor and new encroachments towards the sovereign territory of Armenia, the steps aimed at normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the issue of unblocking regional communications. The need for the immediate release of Armenian prisoners of war held in Azerbaijan and the importance of efforts to preserve the Armenian cultural heritage were stressed.
During the meeting, views on a number of other issues on the Armenia-EU partnership agenda were exchanged.
