Armenia proposes that a demilitarized zone be created along the border, where there will be no armed forces of either Armenia, Azerbaijan, or any other country. Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan mentioned this at the meeting with the Armenian community of Moldova, adding that they are ready to reach an agreement on this basis.
“I can’t say that we have something final now, but we express our readiness. Why? We want to remove and neutralize all the pretexts for further military escalation that can be used. They say: villages, we say: well, we also have villages, we are ready to give back, are you ready, if so, let's change it right now, it's not like we dream all day about what to give. But on the other hand, we do not belittle Armenia’s interests in any way, on the contrary. 70 percent of the arable lands of the same Paravakar village are under the control of Azerbaijanis, the people of that village have no opportunity to develop their well-being. We have to continue on this path, so as not to give any legitimizing reason for Azerbaijan to conduct an aggressive policy, but while doing this, let's be honest, so that we don't want to mislead the international community or the other side every time. The good news for me is that I speak the same thing both at the negotiating table and in Yerevan, in a closed room and in public, that is a very important advantage,” he said.
