Chairman of the Turkish Supreme Election Board (YSK), Ahmet Yener, stated that the final results of the Presidential Election runoff on 28 May were sent to the Official Gazette for publication, and according to the results, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received 52.18 percent of the vote, Anadolu reports.
Making a press statement at the YSK Presidency, Yener reminded that after the first round of the Presidential Election held on May 14, the process for the second round of voting began on May 15 for the first time in Turkish political life.
“According to these results, it was seen that Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received a total of 27 million 834 thousand 589 votes and reached a total voting rate of 52.18 percent, while Mr. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu received 25 million 504 thousand 724 votes and reached a total vote rate of 47.82 percent. As a result of the evaluations and decisions taken by our Board, it was understood that Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was elected as the President and it was sent to the Official Gazette”, Yener said.
Yener also gave information on the comparison of the elections held on 14 May and 28 May.
Yener stated that 53 million 993 thousand 683 voters participated in the 14 May elections, the voting rate was 88.92 percent, and 52 million 93 thousand 375 voters cast their votes in the 28 May elections, and the voting rate was 85.72 percent. reported.
Noting that 1 million 839 thousand 470 of the foreign voters cast their votes on May 14 and the turnout was 53.73 percent, Yener stated that 1 million 930 thousand 226 voters cast their votes on May 28, and the turnout was 56.34 percent.
Ahmet Yener said that the total number of voters who cast their votes on May 14 was 55 million 833 thousand 153, the turnout rate was 87.4 percent, while on May 28, 54 million 23 thousand 601 voters cast their votes and the turnout was 84.15.
