Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk told RIA Novosti that Moscow expects an agreement to be reached between the Eurasian Economic Union and Iran on the free trade area before the end of this year.
“We expect a free trade area agreement between the EAEU and the Islamic Republic of Iran to be signed before the end of the year. This is a comprehensive document that will replace the interim agreement that led to the establishment of an FTA. is currently in force,” he said.
In early February, Russian Ambassador to Iran Alexei Dedov said in an interview with RIA Novosti that the creation of a free trade zone between Tehran and the EAEU will expand the range of goods in the domestic market, especially household appliances.
He noted that the negotiations on the agreement are at the final stage, the parties have agreed on most issues, the issue of mutual access to the market for certain categories of agricultural products remains unresolved.
