Lavrov-Bayramov, Lavrov-Mirzoyan and trilateral Lavrov-Mirzoyan-Bayramov meetings were held in Moscow today, dedicated to the relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue. The Bayramov-Mirzoyan meeting kicked off.
According to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, the peace treaty was a separate topic of discussion. The parties have started working on it, and now it is being actively discussed, including with the involvement of other mediators. He reminded that before this meeting, the ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan went to Washington, a week ago, the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan were in Brussels.
“The work towards the peace treaty is, of course, fundamental. With the peace agreement and a number of articles that were discussed today, it was possible to bring the mutual understanding of both sides closer to the common vision. But our partners confirmed today that without solving the issues of border demarcation, unblocking transport and economic communications, without the general improvement of the security situation in Karabakh and on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, it is difficult to move forward in the specific aspects of the peace treaty,” Lavrov stated.
Lavrov informed that a meeting of the trilateral group led by the deputy prime ministers will take place next week on the issues of unblocking transport communications. The Russian Foreign Minister expressed hope that the result will be positive. The parties are already close to a final agreement.
