On May 17, Paruyr Hovhannisyan, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia received Rolando Enrique Barrow Noad, the newly-appointed Ambassador of Panama to Armenia (residence in Moscow), on the occasion of handing over the copy of his credentials.
Deputy Minister Paruyr Hovhannisyan congratulated the first Аmbassador of Panama in Armenia on his appointment and wished fruitful and successful work during his tenure. The Ambassador of Panama, thanking for the warm greetings and good wishes, expressed his commitment to make efforts towards strengthening relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, the sides touched upon the opportunities of the development of bilateral agenda, including the development of political dialogue, trade and economic relations, legal framework, as well as the activation of cooperation and contacts on multilateral platforms.
Paruyr Hovhannisyan briefed the Panamanian diplomat on the worsening humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh resulting from the blockade of the Lachin corridor by Azerbaijan and the recent developments. The importance of the decision made by the UN International Court of Justice on February 22, which ordered Azerbaijan to take all necessary measures to ensure the unimpeded movement of persons, vehicles and cargo along the Lachin corridor in both directions. The Deputy Minister presented the vision of Armenia in the process of normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the latest developments.
A number of international and regional issues were touched upon.
