The United Nations has assessed the cost of restoring Ukrainian infrastructure, which was damaged or destroyed as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. This will require at least 411 billion dollars.
“Ukraine’s economy has lost much of its industrial capacity and energy infrastructure due to the war and will shrink by 29.1% in 2022. Despite external financial assistance, including an IMF loan and budget support from the European Union and the United States, the economy is likely to stagnate in 2023”, it is stated in UN reports under the title “World economic situation and prospects for the middle of 2023”.
It is noted that long-term prospects for Ukraine will depend on the duration and intensity of the war, as well as the country’s ability to finance the reconstruction of infrastructure.
“At the same time, the cost estimate for restoration was increased to 411 billion dollars,” the UN clarified.
