There is a very high probability this year we will sign an agreement on a free trade zone with Iran. Minister of Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission Andrey Slepnyev announced this during the Moscow-Minsk-Astana-Bishkek-Yerevan video conference on May 12.
He said that even the temporary agreement, which has been in place for more than two years, has almost doubled trade. ՞We plan to increase trade from the current $6 billion to $20 billion in 5-7 years after signing the agreement,” Slepnev emphasized. According to him, Iran is a very serious partner, a great country.
“In addition, we expect that negotiations with India will enter an active phase this year, there are relevant signals. It reflects the common interests of the development of the North-South economic corridor, with the participation of our Union, Iran, Caucasian republics, India, and the UAE,” said the minister.
He informed that negotiations on the creation of a free trade zone have also started with Indonesia.
