During the Parliament-Government question-and-answer session held on May 3, MP Gegham Manukyan of the ‘Armenia’ faction asked Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan whether the Blinken-Bayramov-Mirzoyan trilateral meeting on the same platform as the format of the Lavrov-Bayramov-Mirzoyan meeting. Manukyan was interested if the same issues are being discussed there, and he was interested be whose decision Ruben Rubinyan left for Washington.
According to the press service of the National Assembly, in response to the MP's question, Nikol Pashinyan said that what he has already presented to the National Assembly is being discussed in Washington.
“There is a document of proposals for the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace treaty on the table,” Armenia’s Prime Minister stated.
Nikol Pashinyan informed that Ruben Rubinyan, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, left for Washington based on his political decision.
The opposition MP also asked whether it is possible to sign a peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia in Chisinau on June 1, based on the document discussed in Washington, in the format of the meeting held in Prague.
“If so, I will be very happy. That's not bad news, it's good news. As negotiations are now underway, any positive or negative comments I make will affect their course. I told the officials who went to Washington to negotiate freely and within the framework of our publicly expressed opinions. I emphasized that you should know that I will sign the document you negotiated with Azerbaijan.”
Nikol Pashinyan also touched on the topic of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) and said that he will not be able to answer the question about the status of Artsakh until there is a fixed clause in the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace treaty.
“When the negotiations with Azerbaijan are already closed, the text is ready, and I will announce that I am leaving to sign a peace treaty, only then will I be able to clearly answer the negotiated version regarding Artsakh,” said the Prime Minister of the country.
