In the region of Russia bordering Ukraine, there have already been several alleged sabotage activities, for which the Russian authorities blame pro-Ukrainian activists.
Tensions are rising in the region as Ukraine completes preparations for a counter-offensive against Russian forces, the news agency said. The Ukrainian military vows not to surrender the eastern city of Bakhmut, where fierce fighting has been going on for more than six months.
Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu announced during a meeting with high-ranking military officials that Russian troops are ‘active’ along the entire front line.
He also noted that the Russian armed forces have already received enough ammunition this year to deliver an “effective blow” to the enemy. At the same time, the minister called to double the production of high-precision weapons as soon as possible.
The Kremlin also denied US estimates that the Russian army lost 100,000 soldiers in the last five months, including 20,000 casualties. The Spokesman of the President, Dmitry Peskov, said that these figures are “exaggerated”.
